San Antonio transforms into a holiday wonderland with spectacular events from late November through January.

River Walk Holiday Lighting: millions of lights along the River Walk, November through January. Includes a river parade with illuminated barges.

Zoo Lights: 2+ million lights at the San Antonio Zoo. Ford Holiday Parade: illuminated floats through downtown. Pearl Holiday Market: European-style Christmas market.

River Walk Lighting

River Walk Holiday Lighting: opens the day after Thanksgiving. 5 miles of lights along the river. Evening barge parades nightly. Boat rides to view the lights.

Zoo Lights

Zoo Lights: mid-November through early January. Over 2 million lights. Animal encounters, hot chocolate, and Santa visits. Best for families with young children.

Ford Parade

Ford Holiday Parade: early December. Downtown parade with illuminated floats, marching bands, and Santa. Free street viewing, paid grandstand seating available.

Pearl Market

Pearl European Christmas Market: December weekends at the Pearl. German-style market with vendors, food, mulled wine, and festive activities.

Other Events

Other: La Villita Christmas Market, luminaria displays in historic neighborhoods, holiday concerts at the Tobin Center, and the Trail of Lights at various parks.

Planning Tips

Plan: book holiday hotel rooms early (September). Attend River Walk lighting opening night for the best experience. Weekday visits are less crowded than weekends.
