You should keep at least one fire extinguisher on every level of your home, plus one in the kitchen and one in the garage. Check the pressure gauge monthly to make sure it is in the green zone and have the extinguisher serviced or replaced according to the manufacturer's schedule, typically every 10 to 12 years.
