Patrick Kevin FaganPatrick Kevin FaganUpdated August 18, 2026

Annual pruning for dead branches and shape. Check for disease signs like discolored leaves or fungus. Keep branches trimmed 3+ feet from the roof. Remove hazardous trees near structures. Texas natives like live oaks and pecans need specific care.

Annual Pruning

Remove dead, diseased, or crossing branches. Best done in dormant season (winter).

Disease Detection

Discolored leaves, fungal growth, bark cracks, or sudden leaf drop may indicate disease.

Roof Protection

Trim branches at least 3 feet from roof. Prevents roof damage and pest access.

Hire an Arborist

Certified arborist for large trees, disease diagnosis, or trees near structures.
